EUGENE, Ore. — Help is being offered for people who lost food during the ice storm that was purchased with SNAP benefits. The Oregon Department of Human Services is now offering replacement benefits until February 16.
Colin Morgan runs Florence Food Share, one of the many food banks in Lane County. Following ODHS’s announcement it will help replenish lost food bought through SNAP benefits, Morgan feels it is a success for members of the community who are in need.
“From my experience, when folks lose critical resources, no matter what, it can be crippling, so it’s great to hear that there is some methods that can alleviate that problem,” Morgan said. “I would say we are a fan of that. We like to see people being fed.”
