EUGENE, Ore. — Chefs from all over Lane County will make their way to the Lane Events Center on Monday for Food for Lane County’s annual Chefs’ Night Out, one of its largest fundraising events of the year.
Chef Trevor Whitmore, the executive chef at Sheild Cafe and Catering, is working on three different bites for Monday’s event. One of the dishes is a savory sweet potato pie with a whipped yogurt topping.
“We’ve had a sweet potato samosa that had a very similar filling on our menu,” Whitmore said. “That’s been kind of one of our more popular vegetarian items, so we played with that a little bit.”
