Community Food Benefits Are Available

Looking for support with nutrition and healthy eating? The Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) program can help! If you’re a member of the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), you may be eligible for free grocery cards and/or nutrition education.

Starting in July 2026, we have been able to supply food benefit cards to eligible community members. These cards can be used to buy fruits, vegetables, and pantry staples at many grocery stores.

If you have OHP (Medicaid), you may qualify! It’s easy to get started — simply complete this form. We will reach out with immediate food resources within a few days, and follow up within a few weeks if you may be eligible for a food card.

Healthy Eating: Resources & Education

Knowing how to prepare healthy foods is an important part of food security. For those wanting to learn more about cooking, meal-planning and grocery budgeting, we offer opportunities to engage with nutrition education.

For OHP members who quality, Food for Lane County’s Community Nutrition Educators provide individualized sessions where participants can get support working to reach their personal nutrition and wellness goals, learn budget-friendly meal planning, cooking skills, and more. We offer these services in English or Spanish, at no cost.

You may also see our nutrition educators offering samples of healthy recipes out in the community, including at various food pantries. This is all part of our strategy to help our community access food and resources to eat healthily.

We also offer occasional cooking classes to teach participants how to prepare healthy, low-cost meals. If you are a community organizer in Lane County interested in collaborating to provide nutrition education to the community you serve, please get in touch via our Contact Us form.
