Bring Your Team Together While Giving Back

September 18, 2025

Looking for a hands-on way for your team to connect and support the community this season? Volunteering with Food for Lane County offers unique and varied opportunities to make a real impact on hunger in our community.

“For over two decades, PenFed has proudly supported Food for Lane County, showcasing our Eugene team’s dedication through various volunteer efforts,” said Kari Firth of PenFed Credit Union. “Our efforts foster a sense of making a meaningful impact and contributing to a stronger community, something we all take pride in.”

We welcome business groups of all sizes to help with a variety of projects. From sorting and repacking food to tending our gardens, your time and energy make all the difference.

Group Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Sorting Parties: Groups of 8–20 can sort inventory in our warehouse, socialize, and see the scale of food needed firsthand.
  • Food Rescue Express (FREX): Groups of 4–16 can help package donated prepared food in our commercial kitchen on weekday evenings. This popular program fills up quickly, so we recommend scheduling at least a month in advance.
  • GrassRoots Garden: For groups willing to get their hands dirty, the garden operates year-round. Groups of any size are welcome on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Special Events: Depending on your group size, you may also participate in seasonal events like the Turkey Trot or the Letter Carrier’s Drive.

Volunteer: Sign up for one of our volunteer opportunities online or call Dan Budd at 541-343-2822. Opportunities can be customized to your group.
