Summer Fundraising and Food Drive Roundup

A Passion For Paella
The Northwest Paella Fest is an annual summer gathering of paella makers and paella lovers in support of local hunger relief. Since 2006, participants and attendees have raised more than $246,400 for Food for Lane County! The event raised more than $40,000 and marked 18 years of helping our neighbors who are food insecure. Thank you so much to everyone involved in the Northwest Paella Fest for so many years of generous support!

Lane County Fair Raises More Than 17,000 Pounds of Food
Thank you to everyone who donated food at the Lane County Fair. In the four short hours we were there, you helped raise an incredible 17,216 pounds of food — that’s enough to provide more than 14,300 meals for our neighbors in need. Thank you also to our wonderful volunteers and the Lane County Fair team for helping make this drive a huge success year after year!

Missed the fair but still want to help? Consider donating one or more items from our most needed foods list.

Local Company DLX Rallies and Raises Equal to 36,000 Meals
Locally based company Deployed Logix (DLX) has given their support to Food for Lane County in the most incredible way. As a manufacturer of rapidly deployable disaster preparedness products to support first responders, DLX makes a huge impact in disaster relief globally. In Lane County, they’re making a giant impact in the fight against hunger.

Through a company-wide food drive, matched with a generous donation by the DLX Family Foundation, DLX raised the equivalent of more than 36,000 meals for our community. This effort was pioneered by a motivated group of employees who turned the company’s annual BBQ into a month-long competition between departments.

“We know that food banks are at large deficits in the summers and need their communities to step up during this season, more than ever,” said Katie Urhausen, Senior Brand Advisor and Family Foundation Trustee. “We are so grateful to have people here at DLX who rally for the greater good.”

DLX was also the Dinner Sponsor for Food for Lane County’s 22nd Annual Empty Bowls Auction. Next year, they plan to challenge another local company to a friendly food drive competition. Can your business rise to the challenge?

Host a Food or Fund Drive
Food donations are down this year, while the need in our community continues to rise. Hosting a food or fund drive is a powerful way to help fill the gap. Whether it’s a collection bin in your break room or a friendly fundraising competition between departments, your efforts help stock our shelves and support our neighbors seeking food resources.
