1. Take a tour. Learning more about hunger and what we’re doing to address it is a great way to get started. Call us at (541) 343-2822.
2. Organize a food and fund drive. Drives raise awareness about hunger and poverty in our community and contribute thousands of pounds of food, more than 600,000 pounds last year.
3. Donate money. For every dollar you donate, we can collect and distribute six pounds of food. Go to www.foodforlanecounty.org to donate securely online.
4. Volunteer. FOOD for Lane County is powered by thousands of volunteers who contributed over 62,000 hours last year. Whether you’re an individual or a group, we have opportunities for you to get involved.
5. SCAN-a-Coupon. SCAN a $1, $5 or $10 coupon at the check-out stand at one of our SCAN partners (see page 8). SCAN raised over $80,000 for local hunger relief last year.
6. Be an advocate. It takes more than food to end hunger. Write your elected official to ask them what they’re doing to help low-income families meet their basic needs.
7. Sponsor an event. We have sponsorship opportunities at all levels for Chefs’ Night Out, Empty Bowls and many other events. Call us to learn more.
8. Donate a product or service. In-kind donations let us focus more resources on providing food assistance to the one in five Lane County residents who will access a FFLC program or service this year. Go to our website and click on Take Action to see our current wish list.
9. Serve on our board of directors. Our volunteer board is currently looking for new members. Call for more information.
10. Adopt a truck. We are looking for “adoptive parents” to sponsor vehicles in our fleet and help offset fuel and maintenance costs.
