History

In 1984 FOOD for Lane County incorporated with one staff person, one volunteer and five board members, distributing almost 2 million pounds of mostly USDA food commodities out of a small house in Springfield. The fledgling food bank served 43,000 Lane County residents that year.

Two decades later, FFLC’s paid staff of 22 full-time and 14 part-time employees occupy a state-of-the-art, 32,000-square-foot warehouse, kitchen and office located at 770 Bailey Hill Road in Eugene. We partner with 100 social service agencies and programs to distribute 6 million pounds of food to 80,000 Lane County residents. Last year more than 2,000 volunteers contributed 60,000 hours to emergency and supplemental food assistance programs that serve our neighbors in need.
